This
large full-size roll-up map was produced for railway stations
and offices of the Canadian Pacific Railway and Steamship System.
Dated 1930, it measures 68 inches by 43 inches. It shows all
the CPR lines in Canada from coast to coast and also covers
part of the Northern USA. There is an insert of the world at
the bottom left, there they indicate the various steamship
routes of the CPR steamship services. In late 1929 the Canadian
Pacific dropped its shield logo with beaver on top in favour
of the new shield with the circle and the slogan 'World's Greatest
Travel System.'
This is quite a rare map and in over 20 years of collecting
railway antiques, this was my first discovery of a map of this
kind. It has been professionally mounted on canvas, with the
original wooden pieces reattached top and bottom. There are two
slight tears on the top of the map extending through the word
Greatest, but they have been repaired. |
